How Music Can Help Your Writing

Have you ever been stuck writing a scene you just can’t get into? I find that music often helps my writing and gets me into the mood. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here are a few examples:

Fast paced/strong, forceful music are great for action scenes.

Quiet, soft music can help an emotional or betrayal scene.

Also pay attention to the setting of your story and match the music to it. If a scene is set in a café, why not play some background jazz to help the story? If a book is set on a tropical island, steel drums and other exotic tunes can make you feel immersed into the scene.

What would be your favorite scene/music pairing? Let me know in the comments!
